Seeking a Part-Time Outreach Coordinator in Petersburg Region

Are you familiar with the communities in & around the Tri-Cities? We are looking to hire an Outreach Coordinator to help us gain a stronger footing in that area!

This is a part-time position of 10 to 15 hours per week. A 1099 form will be issued at the end of the year. Local travel is required (using personal vehicle) to attend events and meet with churches, community leaders, stakeholders, businesses and other organizations. Travel reimbursement included up to a maximum of 40 miles per week at .53 cents per mile.

The NAMI Central Virginia Community Outreach Coordinator primary responsibilities are to maintain and build strategic relationships, conduct a variety of outreach activities, and recruit program participants and volunteers. The Outreach Coordinator performs or assists staff with the following duties and other related tasks as requested:

1) Maintain and establish programs and support groups

2) Maintain relationships with collaborative partners and cultivate new ones

3) Public Relations and distribution of NAMI-CVA education, information, and event materials

4) In partnership with staff, create and implement a community and business outreach plan

5) Attend health fairs and other venues such as churches, universities, middle and high schools, clubs, and civic groups; provide NAMI-CVA materials and conduct informational presentations on behalf of the organization

6) Plan and coordinate outreach activities and special events to promote programs and connect with community residents

7) Create and maintain a community database of interested parties and issues

8) Operate and maintain NAMI Central Virginia D19 satellite office

9) Volunteer recruitment and support

10) Reporting

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors or Associates degree preferred. High school diploma with experience in outreach duties acceptable. Must have proficiency in MS Office and excel spreadsheet creation and maintenance. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required. Ability to effectively prepare and present information to various groups. Ability to work independently or manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision is essential. Ability to network and forge strong relationships. Must be committed to the mission of serving people with mental disabilities. Must be able to perform several tasks concurrently, and have time management and organizational skills. Ability to support and motivate volunteers. Ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to organize and maintain detailed records; complete necessary paperwork and meet deadlines. Ability to take and apply instruction from supervisor. This is a contract position, transient, not permanent and may end at any time without advanced notice. NAMI Central Virginia does not and will not accept any liability for personal or property damage as a result of this position. The individual offered this position must own a reliable vehicle, have Virginia acceptable and active liability insurance, and hold a valid driver’s license. The position will require the individual assist in the physical set-up and preparation for special events and activities. Some meetings and events will require evening and weekend work duties and attendance.
$10 to $12 per hour
