Personal Stories

Thank you for considering sharing your story with us. We know it can be tough to put your feelings into words, but we also know how healing the process can be. NAMI‘s research indicates that “expressive writing can help improve mood, increase psychological well-being, reduce depressive symptoms, decrease PTSD avoidance symptoms, reduce days spent in a hospital and improve immune system functioning (to name a few).” Telling your story can help in your own recovery and allow others with similar experiences to feel encouraged, understood, and less alone. We would love to hear about your journey with mental health and your experience with NAMI Central Virginia’s programs and support groups.
